Chris Schwarz feels it.

The moment in a game when his opponent has had enough, when they can't muster the energy to tackle the River Ridge running back.

"That's when the fun starts," Schwarz said."We're just pounding them, play after play and then all of sudden, we break one."

Schwarz broke a lot of runs last season enroute to breaking the Pasco County rushing record wtih 2,689 yards. If his spring game performance against Tampa Catholic, where he rushed for more than 300 yards, is any indication, Schwarz is set for a big senior season.

"Every year, he’s one of the kids you say, what else can he do and it’s always a question and he always seems to come up with something more," River Ridge head coach Ryan Benjamin said. "He always pushes himself. He’s very self motivated. Every season, we can’t wait to see what the offseason does for him in terms of his skill set as a RB or LB. He just keeps progressing every single day because he’s very dedicated.”

Schwarz is hungry to build upon last season when he helped the Royal Knights win their first district title and advance to the postseason for the first time since 1998.

“I just want to continue to work hard and be in the weight room every single day through the summer and all the way up until camp starts," Schwarz said. "As a team, I think we have the potential to do more than we did last year.”

Schwarz is leaving an indelible mark at River Ridge High and one day, might find his name on the Wall of Fame, alongside his coach, or maybe something bigger.

“His name’s going to be on a lot of walls," Benjamin said. "There might even be some statues.”
