The Tampa Bay Buccaneers offseason workouts are right on schedule according to head coach Lovie Smith. Jameis Winston is taking first-team snaps with Mike Glennon under center.  Other rookies like Donovan Smith and Ali Marpet could see a lot of time along the offensive line this season.

“Donovan is bright. He’s got talent. He’s got the size, everything you’re looking for,” Smith said on Thursday. “Anxious to see him in training camp to see what he can do. [He’s] right on schedule. Good to get Ali Marpet out there too.”

It's important to sure up the offensive line no matter who will be the starting quarterback.  Winston, the No. 1 overall pick, is taking notes from the guy he’s competing for the job with in Glennon.

“Watching Mike, seeing the things he do, I’m trying to pick everything that he has because he’s been doing great. I look up to him and the things he does is magnificent, so I try to always compete. It’s always good to have a great guy in front of you, just helps you push yourself.”

Winston is continuing to build trust and gain the respect of his teammates.

“Jameis has done well,” said veteran receiver Vincent Jackson. “ Everything we’re throwing at him, this new system, that puts a lot on the quarterback and expects them to make plays, make calls at the line of scrimmage and adapt to defenses. He’s handled it well and that’s exciting to see from a young guy putting a lot on his plate right away.”
