Keldric Preston and his dad took an extended road trip this summer.

One weekend, they traveled to Wisconsin and Indiana universities. Then another trek led them to Boston College, Penn State, Pitt and Rutgers.

It was important for Preston to see where he will be living for the next four years. And one college, in particular, felt more at home than the others.

Preston announced his college decision in the Bright House Sports Network studio Monday night. The Robinson High senior was surrounded by family and friends who cheered his announcement.

The Knights starting defensive end selected Wisconsin. He picked the Badgers over Boston College, Miami, Penn State and Rutgers.

Last season with the Knights, Preston collected 39 tackles and five sacks and forced two fumbles. His size (6-4, 240 pounds) and speed off the edge attracted a lot of Division I interest that included more than a dozen offers.

"It's a true blessing," Preston said. "You love the attention and everything but you've always got to pay attention to the small stuff and make sure you're ready to go."

His advice to underclassmen going through the recruiting process: " Pay attention closely and keep grinding."
