One visit to Syracuse was all it took for Rex Culpepper.

The Plant High quarterback knew he was home.

Culpepper picked the Orange over more than 15 other Division I offers, ending his recruitment less than two months before the start of his senior season.

And now he's prepared to bring the winning culture from Plant to Syracuse, a program that has been stagnant for a while.

"I'm coming from a culture where it's like we lose in the second round of the playoffs, that was a bad season," said Culpepper, who threw for 2,016 yards and 20 touchdowns last season. "It's like, anywhere else, you win as many games as we do, it's a big deal, but at Plant High School, you expect the greatest. I want to take that culture that's on the rise.

"I think I have a lot to offer, coming from a program that's been as successful as Plant has."
