Top teams from around the state will gather in Bartow on Friday, January 29th and Saturday, January 30th for the 13th Annual Mosaic Stinger Shootout. Bright House Sports Network will broadcast three marquee matchups on Saturday, featuring showdowns between Central Florida teams and Polk County powers.

3 PM – Winter Park vs. Kathleen
The Wildcats are a perennial state title contender, with three state titles in the last six years, but it’s been an up and down 2015-16 season. They have played one of the more challenging schedules in the area though, and look to redeem themselves against Polk County competition, having already lost to Bartow and Auburndale. Donald Blackmon’s squad is led by 6’7” junior Wyatt Wilkes, who already holds offers from Florida State, Clemson and Tennessee, among others.

Kathleen’s record currently stands at 10-10, but they play in one of the toughest districts in the state, with county rivals Lakeland, Bartow and Winter Haven. The Red Devils notched a big district win over Lakeland earlier in January and are also led by a standout junior forward in Chris Williams.

5 PM – Osceola vs. Auburndale
The Kowboys are following up one of their best seasons in program history with another outstanding year. The 2015 7A Runner-Up has benefitted from the development of junior Tevin Florent, as they moved up in classification to 8A. They have a showdown with county rival Poinciana which will also air on BHSN on Wednesday, January 27th at 7:30 PM.

An athletic Auburndale squad is led by the nation’s 49th-best point guard, Keon Clergoet, a Texas Tech signee. Head Coach Eric Robinson directs one of the most explosive offenses in the area, as the Bloodhounds average over 73 points/game and have surpassed the 80-point mark five times through their first 20 games.

7 PM – Dr. Phillips vs. Bartow
When you think of consistent contender, no team embodies that more than Dr. Phillips in the Central Florida area. The Panthers are approaching their 23rd straight 20-win season and have reached the playoffs 16 times in the last 20 years. Anthony Long recorded his 300th victory as Panthers head coach in December, and leans on his only senior, Justin Tucker, who has become a double-double machine and garnered interest from mid-major programs this winter.

Some may have been surprised by Bartow’s 6-7 record at the turn of the new year, but a closer look shows that the Yellow Jackets challenging early-season schedule has prepared them for district play as they have their sights set on their Coach Terrence McGriff’s second state championship. Games at the prestigious City of Palms Classic in Fort Myers and Beach Ball Classic in Myrtle Beach are in their past as the Yellow Jackets are undefeated through their first seven games of the new calendar year. Star center Tony Bradley, a North Carolina signee, was just honored this week as a McDonald’s All-American selection, the first in Bartow history.
