It was a different looking lineup for Orlando City on Sunday in their 2-2 draw against the New England Revolution. Julio Baptista getting his first start with the Lions with both Cyle Larin and Kevin Molino subbing in during the second half.

Baptista has been with the team for just two weeks now, but is already making his mark. The forward drew a penalty kick in the opening seconds with Kaka finishing it off for the 1-0 lead.

“I thought he showed a lot of stuff that’ll help us moving forward,” said Coach Adrian Heath. “We’d obviously worried that he’d been out for awhile with injury but he looked as though he was fit and lively and I think if we can get enough ball into him in the right areas, he is going to be a big piece for us moving forward.”

Larin was held out of the starting lineup with a hamstring injury, but both he and Molino made a difference upon entering midway through the second half.

“We were better second half, and I am not saying it was because them two came on but I thought there was a few decisions, with weather being one – the wind,” said Heath. “But they certainly gave a lift when they came, and we started to play with a little more aggression and played in their half as well.”

The Lions doubled their shot attempts and controlled the ball over 50 percent of the time in the second half. Molino even scored the go-ahead goal in stoppage time, before a controversial call for New England tied the game once more at 2-2.

“When the team was a little bit tired Cyle and Kevin gave us some energy and we changed the game,” said Kaka. “Kevin scored the goal and Cyle played very well, so this is why it is so important that we don’t have just 11 players, but have 15, 17, 20 players ready to play.”

Depth will certainly serve Orlando City well as the Lions push through the grueling MLS season.
