Great champions push themselves to be the best they can be.

Champions make the impossible, possible. Champions score the touchdowns, they spike the winners, they hit the home runs, champions cross the finish line first.

Bright House Sports Network is honoring the top high school champions with our second annual Evening of Champions on Friday at the Straz Center for the Performing Arts.

The Bay area is home to state champions and some of the top athletes in the nation in their respective sports. We've had the privilege of covering these athletes, and now it's time to honor them.

Awards are being presented in 43 categories, including athlete of the year honors in football, basketball, softball and volleyball, as well as coach of the year awards from each of our seven-county coverage area.

We will also recognize all the Athlete of the Week selections honored throughout the school year and the David Logan Scholarship recipients. And we will shine a spotlight on our Varsity Reporter program with awards to three high school television productions.

BHSN’s Rock Riley and Lindsay Liquori will serve as co-hosts. Other BHSN personalities - Rishi Barran, Tenitra Batiste, Katherine Smith and Chris Torello - will be on hand to present awards.

The Evening of Champions Show will premiere on BHSN Channel 47/HD 1147 June 1 at 8 p.m.
