To say Canterbury and Aucilla Christian softball teams are familiar with each other is an understatement.

When Canterbury won it's second-straight state title in 2014, it came at the expense of Aucilla. The Lady Warriors avenged that loss with a 1-0 win over Canterbury in last year's state semis.

The two teams met once again in the Class 2A semifinals Thursday morning with Aucilla defeating Canterbury 9-1.

Canterbury had chances to put runs on the board in the top of the second, but the Lady Crusaders left runners stranded on third and second. Aucilla didn't have that problem in the bottom of the second.

Carly Joiner's RBI double scored the first run of the game to give the Lady Warriors a 1-0 lead. Ramsey Sullivan added to the lead with a two-run double. And then Aucilla's Natalie Sorensen capped off a six-run second inning for the Lady Warriors with a three-run homer over the center field wall.

Aucilla added two more runs in the third.

Up 9-0 in the bottom of the fifth with bases loaded and one out, Canterbury got out of the jam to prevent the game ending in a mercy rule.

The Lady Crusaders finally got on the scoreboard with Sarah Young's RBI single in the top of the sixth. But once again, Canterbury left runners in scoring position, but they went down swinging in the seventh.

Taylor Bump sparked a mini rally with a single to center field. Canterbury loaded the bases, and with two outs, Aucilla secured the final out to advance the 2A championship game for the third-consecutive year.

Aucilla will play Grandview Prep for the 2A title. The Pride defeated Mount Dora Christian 13-7.

Mount Dora Christian led 2-1 after two innings. But Grandview Prep poured it on in the top of the fourth with four runs to take an 8-3 lead. The Pride added to the lead with a five-run sixth inning.

The Bulldogs attempted to comeback in the top of the seventh. Emilee Burford's two-run double cut Grandview Prep's lead to seven. Hailie Amrhein cut it to six with an RBI, but that's as close as the Bulldogs would get.
