Ventrell Miller knew the minute he set foot on the University of Florida campus it was the right fit for him.

“The atmosphere just felt like home,” Miller said.

The Kathleen High senior linebacker verbally committed to the Gators last Friday, announcing his decision on Twitter. He picked the Gators over Florida State, Kentucky, Miami, North Carolina, Ole Miss and South Carolina.

Last season for the Red Devils, Miller posted 106 tackles, one interception and two fumble recoveries.

He said part of the intrigue of Florida is the fact he could play a role in the turnaround under head coach Jim McElwain.

“I’m excited to be a part of that because I think they can win a championship,” he said.

Miller also stated how important it was to get his decision out of the way before the start of his senior season.

“It kind of relieves like stress off you,” Miller said. “Coaches won’t hit you up as much as they used to.”
