The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash involving a pedestrian in New Port Richey.

The crash happened at Trinity Boulevard and Tamarind Boulevard at 5:30 a.m.
Trinity Blvd was closed for several hours at Tamarind.
Troopers said the man killed was 49-year-old Phillip Meadows of New Port Richey.
According to the FHP, Meadows was walking in the center of the westbound lane of Trinity Blvd. when a 2000 Mercedes being driven by a 63-year-old Trinity man entered the lane.
Troopers said the driver did not see Meadows, who was dressed in dark colors and was walking in an unlit area, and struck him the roadway. Meadows died at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation and charges are pending.
