Dade City, Fla. -- Pasco County commissioners are talking solar panels again on Tuesday.
- Proposed solar farm near Dade City is controversial
- Part of a TECO plan to implement more solar power
- Residents in Blanton Road area don't want 470,000 solar panels in area
And more specifically, the commissioners will be talking to Dade City residents that aren't happy about the prospect of being neighbors with solar panels.
Last month, commissioners voted in favor of allowing Tampa Electric to build 470,000 solar panels on a 350-acre area along Blanton Road.
Commissioners are holding a meeting to update a land development code on the area. The development code would allow the area to be used to build a solar power collection site.
The solar panel plan is part of TECO's plan to make seven percent of all its power generation solar by 2021.
TECO officials said the solar farm would benefit customers in the long run despite bills going up in the near future to help pay for construction.
The 1:30 p.m. meeting at the Dade City courthouse is open to the public.
