Authorities received a 911 call around 3:20 p.m. Monday in connection with the discovery. The dead woman was found inside a home in the 3000 block of W. Patterson Street.
Officials spent Monday and the overnight hours investigating and canvassing the neighborhood. Investigators are hoping someone in the area will come forward or a neighbor may have surveillance cameras that captured something.
The sheriff's office is only confirming the woman's death and has not released any information on the woman or what may have happened to her.
"Aybody who lives in this neighborhood who has seen or heard anything regarding anything out of the ordinary within the last several days is urged to call us at (813) 247-8200 or crimestoppers," said Col. James Bradford.
Deputies did say they talked to one neighbor who said he saw someone leave the home two days ago.
The investigation is ongoing.
