BELLEAIR, Fla. — An early-morning fire swept through a Bellair mansion Saturday.
- Fire happened on Stonegate Drive in Belleair
- 8,000-square-foot home; fire was fully involved
- No injuries; cause of fire unknown
While crews are still trying to determine what sparked the fire, a community is rallying behind the family whose home was left in ruins.
The fire happened about 3 a.m. at the home on Stonegate drive. Firefighters arrived to find the home engulfed in flames.
The homeowners were at home when the fire started and were able to evacuate. No injuries were reported.
Neighbors were stunned at the flames billowing from the 8,000-square-foot home.
"I was just walking my dog and I saw all this, and I'm so glad they got out," said Barb Sheil.
A records check at the property appraiser's office shows the home belongs to Dan and Rosaleen Doyle.
Sheil said the couple and family are well known in the area for their generosity. It's that generosity that will turn this disaster into a community effort to help them, she said.
"Because they do so much for Belleair. They are so philanthropic, so generous and devoted to the town," Sheil said. "I know this community will come together for them."
Fire investigators said the home is a total loss.
