At around 10:06 a.m., deputies with the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office helped the Oldsmar Fire Department with a fire at a two-story apartment on 140 Hunter Lake Drive, Sgt. Spencer Gross explained to Spectrum Bay News 9 in an email.
The upstairs unit sustained "substantial damage" while the downstairs residences did get some damage, he stated.
A woman in the upstairs unit and a firefighter were both taken to a local hospital for smoke inhalation, Gross wrote, adding that no one else was injured.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
