LARGO, Fla. — Largo Mayor Woody Brown is in Washington D.C. on Friday for the 93rd winter meeting of the National Conference of Mayors.

Tampa Mayor Jane Castor and Clearwater Mayor Bruce Rector are also in attendance.

It is the last mayor’s conference President Joe Biden will host before he leaves office, but mayors are expected to focus more on issues impacting their local communities.

Brown serves on the Transportation Committee and says he hopes to discuss pedestrian connectivity and alternate modes of transportation, but says homelessness and affordable housing will also be big topics of conversation.

Brown said the annual conference allows local mayors to learn about challenges other cities across the country are facing, and what they are doing to try and solve them.

“What I really look for is help with challenges that we have here and to find great things that other cities are doing,” Brown said. “And adopt those things here if possible, if they make sense for our city, and then share some of the cool things we are doing here in Largo.”
