What You Need To Know

  • Universal has changed the playliist for its Rip Ride Rockit roller coaster

  • The playlist has been trimmed from 30 songs to just 5, one for each genre available

  • Universal said the change simplifies the selection process for riders

The coaster, located in Universal Studios Florida, allows riders to pick a song that will play from the speakers on their seats during the ride.

Previously, riders had 30 songs to choose from across five different genres: country, pop/disco, classic rock/metal, rap/hip-hop and club/electronica. The choices included “Le Disko” by Shiny Toy Guns, “Sabotage” by Beastie Boys and “Bad Girls” by Donna Summer.

But with the latest change, riders now only have one song choice in each category.

The revised playlist now includes “Welcome to the Black Parade” by My Chemical Romance, “Waterloo” by ABBA, “Man! I Feel Like a Woman by Shania Twain, “Humble” by Kendrick Lamar and “Sandstorm” by Darude.

Universal said the change will “simplify the selection experience” and that it will only feature one song per genre from now on.

“The time has come for Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit to welcome new music to the coaster experience, while saying goodbye to former songs,” Universal said in a statement.

Rip Ride Rockit, which opened at the park in 2009, features a 167-foot-tall vertical lift and reaches a top speed of 65 mph.
