Two pedestrians were injured Thursday morning when they were struck by a vehicle in Clearwater.
According to Clearwater police, a man and woman were struck by a Mitsubishi Outlander SUV while walking on Gulf to Bay Boulevard and Meadow Lark Lane just after 5:30 a.m.
They were identified Thursday afternoon as Elizabeth Sandridge, 40, of Washington, D.C. and David Schroeder, 41, of Wilmington, N.C.
Officers said they were trying to cross Gulf to Bay when they were struck. According to officials, Schroeder was trying to get Sandridge out of the way when they were hit.
Schroeder was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital in Tampa. Sandridge was taken to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg.
The driver of the SUV, 67-year-old Jeffrey Moore of Clearwater, was not injured.
The crash remains under investigation.
