A death investigation is underway after a man's body surfaced in a small retention pond behind a Brevard County bar.

The body was found Friday behind the H&D Roadhouse bar in Merritt Island.
Deputies say the body could be that of a man reported missing from the area Wednesday.
“Agents were out here yesterday (Thursday) doing their preliminary investigation. They went back into that area and didn’t observe anybody, but it appears he may have been under the water at that time and recently surfaced,” Brevard County Sheriff's spokesman Tod Goodyear said.
Family members of Richard “Chad” Stevens said Stevens went missing and was last seen at the bar. They think the body found Friday is Stevens'. They said his cell phone was found at the bar earlier this week.
“The missing person... His cell phone was located by, I believe, one of the bartenders at the business," Goodyear said. "They located it either that night that he went missing or the next morning.”
Chad Stevens was reported missing Wednesday. He was last seen at the H&D Roadhouse bar in Merritt Island, his family members said.
