HUDSON, Fla. -- A Pasco County man was killed Friday night when his van struck the back of a semi trailer that was stopped on the side of the road to unload restaurant supplies, troopers said.

Steve Gordon of Port Richey was traveling westbound on State Road 52 near Hicks Road approaching a stopped semi, which was partially obstructing the outside travel lane, Florida Highway Patrol investigators said.
The driver and passenger of the 2013 Volvo semi had gotten out to unload supplies for the nearby Domino's, troopers said.
That's when Gordon's 2015 Ford Transtar struck the back of the semi trailer.
Gordon, 53, died at the scene. He was wearing a seat belt, troopers said.
Semi driver Anthony Copeland, 27, of Ocala and passenger Troy Lester, 50, of Clermont were unhurt.
Charges are pending.
