INVERNESS, Fla. -- A former Pleasant Grove Elementary School teacher will now call the Citrus County jail home for the next three months.
- Former teacher Kimberly Hellenberg jailed
- Hellenberg sentenced to 91 days
- Hellenberg charged with possession/selling pot
A judge sentenced Kimberly Hellenberg, 56, to 91 days in jail on drug charges. Hellenberg was arrested in January after deputies found marijuana in her home. She was charged with two counts of selling marijuana and two counts of possessing marijuana with intent to sell -- which are all felonies.
Hellenberg's son, Brendan Brown, 20, was also arrested and charged with possessing marijuana with intent to sell and possessing drug paraphernalia.
Detectives said Hellenberg and her son were trafficking marijuana shipped in from California and selling it in large quantities in Citrus County.
In addition to three months in jail, Hellenberg was also sentenced to three years of drug-offender probation, which cost her her teaching certificate after teaching at Pleasant Grove for 29 years, and will prevent her from re-obtaining one.
Her driver's license was also suspended for one year.
