TRINITY, Fla. — One person was seriously injured in a crash involving an SUV and a garbage truck in Pasco County on Thursday.

The crash occurred around 11 a.m. at Trinity and Duck Slough boulevards in Trinity. 

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a Ford Escape traveling westbound on Trinity Boulevard turned left under a green signal into the path of a Waste Connections garbage truck.

The garbage truck hit the passenger side of the Escape. One of the passengers in the Escape incurred serious injuries. 

Troopers said the female victim was transported to Bayonet Point for medical care. Of the three other people involved in the crash, two had to be extricated from their vehicle, troopers said.

Troopers said the garbage truck driver was not injured, but the conditions of the two women who were extricated have not been released.

The crash shut down the intersection for a short time while troopers investigated.
