TAMPA, Fla. — A Bay Area organization is helping people with disabilities build their social circles.

Help Us Gather, or HUG, connects individuals with disabilities to social events and activities. They have a rolling calendar of events specifically for children, teens, and adults.

Each calendar has links to adaptive activities and community events happening throughout the area.

HUG also puts on its own events, such as its Beyond Incredible Fashion Event, which helps attendees feel like kings and queens in a party setting.

"A lot of our friends with disabilities don't get a chance to dress up, they don't get a chance to be in a room full of people and feel welcomed and loved," said Ashley Richmond, Community Outreach for HUG.
