BROWARD COUNTY, Fla. — The Florida Highway Patrol said lightning struck a vehicle Monday morning on Interstate 75 in Broward County and damaged the roadway.

Troopers responded just before 11:30 a.m. and found a 2018 Nissan Rogue with damage to the roof antenna and electrical system.

In addition, the strike left a 7-foot long, 4-inch wide gouge in the Interstate 75 pavement.

The driver of the Nissan, a 48-year-old man from Naples, was not injured in the incident.

The disabled Nissan was towed from the scene and a roadway repair crew was notified of the pavement damage.
