PINELLAS PARK, Fla. — Pinellas Park police are investigating a hit-and-run crash that left a woman dead, injured a man and ended with a vehicle crashing into a church early Thursday.
Police responded to Our Lady of Good Hope in the 5500 block of 62nd Ave. North after the 2:45 a.m. crash.
Authorities said the crash involved a motorcycle and a red Chevrolet Camaro. After the initial collision with the motorcycle, the Camaro, a rental car, struck the church building.
The driver of the red Chevrolet Camaro fled the scene. That driver is beight sought.
Officers found a man and a woman with life-threatening injuries resulting from the collision. The man and woman were riding on the motorcycle.
Both individuals were taken to a local hospital, where the woman was pronounced deceased. The man is listed in critical condition with life-threatening injuries.
Structural engineers will inspect and determine the extent of the damage to the church building.
Police have blocked off 62nd Ave between 53rd St and 58th St.
