LITHIA, Fla. — A vigil was held Saturday night for 13-year-old Zayden Jay, who took his life April 24.
His family called the vigil a "Drop In," named for Zayden's favorite skateboard trick.
Dozens of people came to show support including his friend and neighbor Jared Kent.
"We just started like hanging out," said Jared. "The first day we went to the skatepark and then we became friends."
The skate park became a second home for Zayden and a place he and Jared would hang out.
"He would come here every day," said Jared. "He would come here like three hours a day."
Now the community wants to turn Zayden's favorite trick into a message for all kids struggling with thoughts of suicide.
They say a "Drop In" is now codeword to tell someone like a parent, friend or anyone that you need to talk in a zero judgment environment.
As Zayden's father Zachary stepped in front of the crowd, he spike to his son to let him know he won't soon be forgotten.
"See you soon our precious son but not today," he said. "From this day until the end of our days, we few, we might few choose to live like Zay Jay."
