TAMPA, Fla. — It's been a week since Hurricane Milton made landfall, but river flooding continues in parts of the Tampa Bay region.
The Pasco County Sheriff’s Office recommends that residents residing in low-lying areas prone to flooding evacuate for their safety. With the significant rain from Hurricane Milton throughout the Tampa Bay area, the Pasco Sheriff’s Office is monitoring river flooding in several areas:
-Cypress Creek in the State Road 54 area of Lutz/Wesley Chapel
-Withlacoochee River at US 301 Trilby
As of Wednesday morning, the warnings are as follows:
FLOOD WARNING remains in effect for the Withlacoochee River at US 301 Trilby. Major flooding is occurring and major flooding is forecast. The river is expected to crest at 19.3 feet this morning. Flood stage is 12 feet.
FLOOD WARNING for Withlacoochee River at Croom. Major flooding is occurring. The river is expected to rise to 13.1 feet early Friday afternoon. Additional rises are possible thereafter. Flood stage is 9.0 feet.
FLOOD WARNING remains for the Withlacoochee River at SR 200 Holder. Moderate flooding is occurring. At 9.0 feet, Arrowhead subdivision floods with water in homes. The river is expected to remain steady above flood stage at 9.1 feet until further notice.
FLOOD WARNING for the Cypress Creek at Worthington Gardens. Major flooding is occurring and major flooding is forecast. This approaches the flood of record. The current stage is 14.4 feet. The river is expected to fall to 10.0 feet Friday evening. Flood stage is 8.0 feet.
FLOOD WARNING for the Hillsborough River at Morris Bridge. Major flooding is occurring and major flooding is forecast. The flood stage late Tuesday night was 37.2 feet. The river is expected to fall to 34.6 feet Friday evening. Flood stage is 32.0 feet.
FLOOD WARNING for Alafia River at Lithia. Minor flooding is occurring. Tuesday night's flood stage was 15.1 feet. At 15.0 feet, additional residences downstream of County Road 640 bridge begin flooding.The river is expected to fall below flood stage Thursday morning and continue falling to 10.5 feet Sunday evening.
FLOOD WARNING for the Hillsborough River near Hillsborough River State Park. Moderate flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast. Current stage is 13.2 feet. The river is expected to fall to 10.1 feet Friday evening. Flood stage is 10.0 feet.
FLOOD WARNING remains in effect for the Peace River at Bartow. Minor flooding is occurring. The river is expected to remain steady at 8.8 feet. Flood stage is 8.0 feet.
