TAMPA, Fla. – A Tampa child is recovering after police officers were able to save him from choking.

The incident happened the last week of April as officers responded to a boy choking on a tomato.

In a video posted to the department’s Facebook page, officers can be seen holding the boy over and pounding his back until he coughs up the piece of tomato.

After more than a minute, they were able to help him breathe again.

Officers said the video can serve as a reminder that choking is often silent and to remember the warning signs that if someone can’t speak, cough or breathe, they may be choking.
