TAMPA, Fla. — Tampa Fire Rescue and Tampa Police will update city council members on Thursday as part of an annual audit, to keep both departments on track for the city's Public Safety Master Plan.
Tampa Fire will likely address Station 24, a proposed fire station in North Tampa that has been stalled for years.

It will also update City Council on Fleet Maintenance that will be ongoing for the next two years.
Tampa Police just this week launched a new virtual reality training program for its officers as part of a federal grant. Officers put on virtual reality headsets and trained on de-escalation tactics as well as taser use as part of the AXON training program.
Officers also received ICAT training, a comprehensive program training officers on dealing with people in crisis.
Tampa Police Chief Lee Bercaw says increasing training programs for officers is something the department strives for every year.
“We don’t have an unlimited budget so that’s something that we are always trying to prioritize, is where best to spend the money,” said Bercaw. “And in this case we were actually, for the training pods, got a federal grant. So anything out there to assist us is what we are trying to do.”
