TAMPA, Fla. — A 9-year-old girl is recovering after being attacked by a shark off the coast of Florida.

It happened Wednesday in Boca Grande in Lee County.

The girl's family said she was snorkeling at the time.

Her injuries were so severe that she was flown to Tampa General Hospital.

The family said she underwent a long surgery to have her hand re-attached and is recovering.
