TAMPA, Fla. — Drivers will have to continue take a detour overnight Tuesday as the Florida Department of Transportation conducts road work on the Howard Frankland Bridge.

FDOT is closing the northbound I-275 travel lanes on the Howard Frankland on Tuesday from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Officials said during the overnight hours, crews will install overhead sign structures as part of the I-275 new southbound bridge project between Pinellas and Hillsborough counties.

Drivers who need to travel overnight will have to detour off the interstate using Gandy Boulevard (Exit 28). FDOT will have electronic message boards assisting motorists around the closure via the posted detour route of Roosevelt Boulevard, Gandy Boulevard and Dale Mabry Highway.

Roosevelt Boulevard, Bayside Bridge, Courtney Campbell Causeway and Memorial Highway will remain accessible as alternate routes if needed.

FDOT is reminding drivers to add extra travel time as traffic congestion and delays could occur due to the road closure.
