Nathaniel Yates, 32, is accused of killing Christine Giles, 28, on Thursday night.
Deputies were called to a residence in the 13000 block of West Rena Drive in unincorporated Largo for a report of an injured person. When they arrived, deputies found Giles unresponsive in a travel trailer parked outside the residence.
Giles was later pronounced dead from multiple gunshot wounds.
Investigators located witnesses who identified Yates as the suspect.
Yates was inside the travel trailer with Giles and 61-year-old Wesley Warn when Yates became agitated, according to investigators. He threatened Warn with a .380-caliber handgun, according to deputies. Yates then turned the gun on Giles, shooting her once, deputies stated.
After fleeing the scene, Yates returned a short time later and shot Giles multiple times.
Witnesses told investigators that Yates and Giles had been dating for several months before Giles called off the relationship. Investigators believe the two were dating at the time of the shooting.
