INDIAN ROCKS BEACH, Fla. (AP) — A city worker who attacked his supervisor when he was fired on Wednesday, then threw a chair at a woman in Indian Rocks Beach City Hall before taking a city-owned truck and driving it toward a group of women standing outside the building, investigators in Florida said.
Pinellas County Sheriff's deputies arrested Errol Gray, 52, shortly thereafter Wednesday morning. He's charged with aggravated assault and battery and resisting arrest.
"During this meeting, it got pretty heated, and he was informed by the supervisor that he was being terminated," said Sheriff's Sgt. Spencer Gross.
Gray is accused of hitting the supervisor with his fists on the head and torso. "The victim actually fell on the ground and he was kicked numerous times," Gross said.
When he left the room, investigators said Gray threw a chair at a woman outside the office before stealing a truck.
"He got partially away down the street and he did a U-turn and came back to the front of city hall where four of these women were standing," said Gross. Tire marks show where Gray barreled toward the building, Gross added.
Gray remained in jail on Friday. A lawyer isn't listed on jail records.
