TAMPA, Fla. -- Over the weekend, Spider-Man, Jedi and other characters took over the Tampa Convention Center.
- 22,000 people attended the event
- Fans dressed as favorite characters
- Merchandise and Q&A panels
They were in town for MegaCon Tampa Bay, one of the largest conventions in the Southeast.
Of course, it wasn't the Spider-Man, but rather a fan (known as a cosplayer) dressed in a spidey suit.
Spotted roaming the convention floor were other cosplayers dressed as Dr. Strange, Mario and Luigi, Black Panther, Captain Jean-Luc Picard, Darth Vader, Wonder Woman and Maui from "Moana."
About 22,000 fans attended the three-day event that featured everything from Q&A panels and costume contests to a vintage video game arcade and a Harry Potter escape room.
Fans were able to take pictures of and get autographs from their favorites celebrities, including James and Oliver Phelps ("Harry Potter"), Jeffrey Dean Morgan ("The Walking Dead"), Peter Capaldi ("Doctor Who"), Pearl Mackie ("Doctor Who"), Jason David Frank ("Power Rangers") and Marina Sirtis ("Star Trek: The Next Generation").
There was also more than 100,000 square feet of merchandise, with hundreds of vendors selling everything from comic books and DVDs to T-shirts and other collectibles.
The next MegaCon will take place in Orlando from May 16 through May 19, a week earlier than the usual Memorial Day weekend dates.
