TAMPA, Fla. – Adventure Island, Busch Gardens' water park, is getting ready to build a new ride.

  • Adventure Island is getting a new ride for 2020
  • The water park will close its Key West Rapids slide as a result
  • Busch Gardens is also getting a new coaster in 2020

The ride is set to debut spring 2020, the park announced on its Facebook and Twitter accounts.

In order to make way for the new ride, Adventure Island will be closing its Key West Rapids slide on October 1.

"While 2019 has been a landmark year for Busch Gardens with the addition of Florida's tallest launch coaster, Tigris, we look forward to the exciting developments coming in 2020 to both of our parks," Busch Gardens and Adventure Island park president Stewart Clark said in a statement. " Our fans can look forward to more information coming soon regarding new attractions at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay and Adventure Island."

SeaWorld, Adventure Island's parent company, has made adding new attractions at its parks part of its strategy. Busch Gardens, which opened its Tigris coaster in April, is also set to debut a wood-steel hybrid coaster in 2020.
