ORLANDO, Fla. — Disney has announced changes to its Disability Access Service (DAS) program, which will soon take effect at its theme parks.

Disney World and Disneyland describe on their websites that the popular program is intended to accommodate guests “who, due to a developmental disability like autism or similar, are unable to wait in a conventional queue for an extended period of time.”

Upcoming changes to the program according to Disney World’s website include registering through live video chat to determine eligibility as soon as 30 days in advance of visiting the park. Disneyland guests will need to either talk to a Cast Member through live video chat to determine eligibility as soon as 30 days in advance of visiting the park, or on-site on the day of the visit at an Accessibility Services window.

Registering will no longer be available at the park’s Guest Relations locations starting May 20 at Disney World, and starting June 18 at Disneyland.
