Thousands of health care workers will be going to the Super Bowl this year in Tampa Bay as invited guests of the NFL.
The league extended invitations to worker from 32 cities where the NFL has teams. Commissioner Roger Goddell appeared in a Zoom call to workers at Sarasota Memorial Friday and broke the good news.
“I want to first invite each member of your team to be our guest at the Super Bowl,” Goddell said.
Some workers on the call screamed “Yes!”
Others shed tears of joy.
“They’ve been on the front lines from the beginning and they’ve just worked tirelessly really putting themselves in dangerous positions quite often,” said Tampa Mayor Jane Castor. ”I wish we could fill the entire stadium with health care workers.”
The health care workers must have received both doses of the COVID-19 vaccine before attending the big game.
