Orange County Democratic Party Treasurer Matthew A. Inman has been charged with transportation of child sex abuse material, according to authorities.

In a press release dated Friday, Jan. 17, the U.S. Attorney's Office based in the Middle District of Florida stated that Inman, 39, was arrested on charges of transportation of child sex abuse material, where it was alleged that he had videos of children being sexually abused on his smartphone and that he expressed interest in being with a fictional 9-year-old boy.

“According to the complaint, between August and October of 2024, Inman received and saved several videos of child sexual abuse material (CSAM) to his phone. These videos depicted adults sexually assaulting young children. In October 2024, Inman traveled to Las Vegas and began talking online with an undercover law enforcement officer posing as the father of a 9-year-old boy. During this conversation, Inman expressed interest in meeting and sexually assaulting the purported child. He also sent CSAM videos to the undercover officer,” authorities stated.

When the FBI went to his home with a search warrant, Inman allegedly tried to delete the videos from his smartphone and “hide in the attic of his house,” authorities stated.

Inman was arrested by the U.S. Marshalls, and he is currently in the Seminole County Jail with no bond.

If he is convicted, the U.S. Attorney’s Office stated he could face a minimum of five years and up to 20 years in federal prison.

Inman was a treasurer with the Orange County Democratic Party, which stated that members were “appalled” by the news and they have suspended him.

He was also president of the Rainbow Democrats, an organization for gay, bisexual and transgender people. The organization has suspended him as well.
