College of Saint Rose College officials are cutting parts of their academic programs, they say, because of financial challenges.
Twenty-two degrees and three certificate programs are being cut as part of an initiative to reduce expenses by nearly $6 million.
"It's incredibly painful. But it's to sustain the viability of this college so that we can survive for the next 100 years,” said interim Saint Rose President Marcia White.
Ten percent of undergraduate students and 4 percent of graduate students will be impacted. Thirty-three full-time faculty positions are also being eliminated at the end of next year.
Saint Rose says the programs on the chopping block either have historically low enrollment or are too costly to maintain. Students currently enrolled in those programs will be able to complete their degree, but no new students will be able to sign up for them.
