Hillsborough County Public Schools announced Friday it will provide two options for instruction in the 2021-2022 school year: In-school, face-to-face instruction or Hillsborough Virtual K-12.

Face coverings will be optional for students and staff starting June 7.

HCPS principals were surveyed about their preference for learning options next school year. Out of 198 responses, 186 principals indicated face-to-face instruction and Hillsborough Virtual K-12 are the best options for their students.

District leaders recognize that the majority of children learn, thrive and grow most responsively when they are in the presence of their teachers and peers.

Initial Choice enrollment for HVK12 ends July 11 at 11:59 p.m.

Checking in with other school districts, Pinellas County Schools says no official decision has been made regarding online learning next year.

Citrus County says it's offering both brick and mortar and online learning.

Polk County Public Schools is still considering potential learning options for the 2021-22 school year and no final plans have been reached at this time.
