TAMPA, Fla. — Five things you need to know about MOSI's new "Dinovations Lab":
- A model of the longneck dinosaur Diplodocus towers over the new offering, opening March 2
- The model Diplodocus is over 90 feet long and stands on his two hind legs, lifting his upper body 40 feet.
- "Dinovations" offers a view from underneath Diplodocus, into its ribcage and its hind legs and tail.
- The lab also features tiny drops of amber under a microscope to see trapped and preserved insects, as well as coprolite (fossilized dinosaur poop!)
- Visitors can also crawl through tunnels searching for fossils like grown-up paleontologists do! “What we really want is for kids to have an immersive feeling that they are paleontologists, and they are working on making discoveries like real paleontologists,” said Anthony Pelaez, Senior Director of Exhibits and Innovations.
