A man in his early 20s was bitten in the lower leg by a shark near Bean Point on the north end of Anna Maria Island yesterday, according to the West Manatee Fire Rescue District.

3. Paul Reubens, actor behind Pee-wee Herman, dies at 70
Paul Reubens, the actor and comedian best known for portraying Pee-wee Herman, has died at 70 after a battle with cancer.

4. Mar-a-Lago worker charged in Trump documents case makes first court appearance
The property manager of Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate made his first court appearance today on charges in the classified documents case against the former president but did not enter a plea because he has not found a Florida-based attorney to represent him.

5. One person injured in Largo hotel fire
One person was hospitalized early today in a fire at the Home2 Suites Extended Stay Hotel in Largo.

6. Dunedin city leaders consider expanding options for golf carts on city streets
Golf carts are getting more and more popular in the Bay area, and because of that many communities are looking at ways to expand their use.

7. Hall of Famer Ronde Barber emerged to make name for himself
Tampa Bay Buccaneer CB Ronde Barber is being inducted into Pro Football Hall of Fame. Barber played for Tampa Bay from 1997 to 2012 earning 5 Pro Bowl appearances, 47 interceptions and 14 touchdowns

8. Florida Today: L3Harris completes $4.7B deal for rocket maker Aerojet, which will based in Palm Bay
L3Harris Technologies Inc. has completed its $4.7 billion acquisition of rocket maker Aerojet Rocketdyne, and says it will move the operation's headquarters to Palm Bay.

  • RAYS IN THE BRONX: The Tampa Bay Rays begin a three-game series tonight against the New York Yankees. The Rays took two of three games over the weekend against the Houston Astros. Tyler Glasnow gets the ball for Tampa Bay, with first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m. Meanwhile, the Rays traded for pitching help.
  • GAS PRICES LATEST: Florida gas prices are inching lower after surging to the highest levels this summer. The state average rose nearly 30 cents per gallon during the past two weeks. On Friday, the state average reached $3.67 per gallon. Although that was the highest daily average price since mid-April, it remains below the 2023 high of $3.72 per gallon. Fnd the cheapest gas in the Bay area.
  • TAMPA TRAFFIC: The outside southbound lane of Bayshore Boulevard will be closed between West Inman Avenue and South Boulevard while the Tampa Water Department repairs a water main break. Barricades and signs will be located in the area to assist with traffic flow. The completion of the work with a return to normal traffic patterns is expected by 5 p.m. Wednesday.
