1. A guide to Florida’s 6 constitutional amendments on the ballot
In addition to voting on candidates, Florida voters will also get the opportunity to decide on six constitutional amendments that will appear on your ballot.
2. Hillsborough schools announces school calendar changes due to hurricanes
The changes will impact middle and high school students. Elementary school children won’t be affected.
3. Jeff Vinik sells portion of Tampa Bay Lightning to new ownership group
No financial terms were released but according to Canadian website Sportsnet, the team is currently valued at $2 billion.
4. White House issues first national security memorandum on AI
On Thursday, President Joe Biden issued the country’s first National Security Memorandum on AI to ensure the United States retains its leadership in the technology and is able to support its growth with domestically made semiconductors and renewable energy.
5. Israeli strike on Gaza shelter kills 17 as Blinken says cease-fire talks will resume
An Israeli strike on a school where displaced people were sheltering in the central Gaza Strip killed at least 17 people on Thursday, nearly all women and children, Palestinian medical officials said.
6. Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church hosts annual Greekfest
According to the Clearwater Greek Festival Facebook page, all net proceeds will go to help local disaster relief after the recent hurricanes.
7. U.S. applications for jobless benefits fall, but continuing claims rise to highest level since 2021
The Labor Department reported Thursday that applications for jobless claims fell by by 15,000 to 227,000 for the week of Oct. 19. That's less than the 241,000 analysts forecast.

- TRAFFIC ALERT: The westbound lane on East Linebaugh Avenue is closed between Nort Florence Ave and North Annette Avenue as the Tampa Water Department conducts maintenance on the water distribution system. There will be barricades and signs in the area to help reroute traffic. The work is expected to be completed with a return to normal traffic patterns by Tuesday at 5 p.m., weather permitting.
- LIGHTNING vs. WILD: The Tampa Bay Lightning are back on home ice tonight for a matchup against the Minnesota Wild. The Bolts are 4-2-0, while Minnesota is 4-0-2.
