Florida's 23rd District State Senator Danny Burgess was inspired to run for office after the 9/11 attacks occurred when he was in 10th grade--this transformative moment solidified his desire to work in public service. He ran for city council in his hometown at age 18 and has been serving his community ever since.

Burgess's favorite part of his job is passing laws and providing resources to support his constituents. The biggest lesson he has learned during his time in office is that never being afraid to ask questions and being comfortable acknowledging when you aren't familiar with a topic allows you to be a better public servant.

Burgess would spend an ideal day in his district with his son in Plant City, building a new Lego set as they watch the trains go by. His favorite movie is Top Gun: Maverick.
