The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office and four other agencies continue to ask for the public's help in solving the mysterious disappearance of two women.

The severed leg of 43-year-old Kelly Moriarty of Bradenton washed ashore at 6990 4th Street in St. Petersburg on Dec. 27, 2011.

Her girlfriend, 60-year-old Doris Wade Carter of Plant City, remains missing.

Investigators have searched waterways, followed out-of-state leads, conducted interviews and collected forensic evidence in the search for the women.

Doris Carter's daughter told deputies she last saw her mother and Moriarty together at Carter's home the night of Dec. 16.

The next morning both women, and Moriarty's car, were gone.

A Manatee deputy spotted Moriarty's car abandoned on the side of State Road 62 in Parrish on Dec. 20. When investigators later searched the car, they found no evidence of a crime.

A month later, Moriarty's brother entered her apartment and told investigators nothing appeared disturbed. However, Christmas decorations and unopened presents were in the apartment. He then reported her missing to the Bradenton Police Department.

The next day, Bradenton Police officers visited Carter's home. Her daughter said she had not seen Carter in more than a month, but it was not uncommon for both women to be away for extended periods of time.

On the 29th, Carter's daughter reported her missing to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.

Anyone with information on the two women is asked to call the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office at 813-247-8200 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-873-TIPS.
