New court documents have been released in the murders of two Port Tampa teenagers.

Siblings Kiara and Jeremi Brito were shot to death in their home on June 5, 2011. The murders of the brother and sister, 16 and 13, plunged their neighborhood and schools into mourning and asking why something like this happened.

Charles Waits, 20, and Tavaris Grant, 19, were both arrested following the shooting and are awaiting trial on first-degree murder charges in the case.

Detectives say the men robbed the teens in a home invasion. When they were caught, Waits and Grant had jewelry belonging to the victims.

But the newly released documents give insight into what else was going on inside the house.

Investigator reports reveal marijuana, cocaine, baggies and a digital scale were all found inside the home. The homicides have been classified as being over a "narcotics-related argument."

Judy Brito, the victims' mother, told investigators her daughter had recently purchased "hydro" marijuana.

Detectives reported in their affidavit that they talked to witnesses who told them Judy had the cocaine business and Kiara sold "expensive weed."

Kiara's boyfriend told police, "Kiara manages the money from her mother's narcotic sales as well as her own narcotic sales."

Witnesses also told police Kiara had recently sold weed to Charles Waits.

The  night the siblings were killed, Jeremi was playing video games at a neighbor's house. The neighbor told police Jeremi received a text from his mother at 5 a.m. telling him Kiara was home alone and he should go there because it was safer that way.

Less than an hour later, the teens were shot to death.

Judy Brito was at the beach with her boyfriend when her children were murdered.

Friends and neighbors say Judy Brito loved her children and she was destroyed by their murders.
