Sex, lies and murder; all in a high profile trial that is involving the ex-wife of the former mayor of Indialantic.

She’s accused of killing her husband’s lover.

The court heard from several witnesses, including the murder victim's husband and a young woman who was living at Sheila Trott's during the time she was accused of killing Kelly Brennan.

Sheila Trott listened closely to witness testimony; Trott is accused of murdering Kelly Brennan on February 15, 2010.

Brennan was having an affair with her husband Dan Trott, the former mayor of Indialantic.

Investigator say that’s why Sheila Trott beat Brennan to death, then dumped her body near a beach access known as Mark's Landing in South Melbourne Beach.

Brennan's husband, Gino Rallo, spent about three hours on the witness stand Monday.

The defense questioned him about their martial problems, physical fights and how he still loved her despite the fact she was having an affair.

Rallo: She is packing up her stuff and leaving.

Defense: Right, and you were devastated?

Rallo: I was.

The defense even questioned Rallo about money he received after his wife's death; money they say exceeded $250,000.

"Did you kill your wife for insurance money?" asked Trott's defense attorney.

"No I did not," Rallo responded.

Another witness took take the stand; Ariel Hill, a friend of Trott's son who was 16 years old at the time, and was staying at Trott's house when the murder took place.

Prosecutors say Sheila Trott was acting strange the night of the murder. Strange enough that Hill and Sheila's sons called 911 thinking she was having a seizure.

The scandal shocked the small beach town community.

Brennan and her husband knew Daniel Trott through a local bicycle riding group.

Both couples were in the process of getting divorces when the murder took place.

The Trott's were married for 20 years and Brennan and Rallo married for seven years.

Ariel Hill will continue with her testimony Tuesday morning, when court reconvenes at 8:30 a.m.
