Prosecutors have dropped charges in the fourth and final murder case against Dontae Morris, who already has received death sentences in the 2010 killings of two Tampa police officers.
On Monday in front of Circuit Judge William Fuente, Assistant State Attorney Scott Harmon said the prosecution is dropping the first-degree murder case against Morris in the June 2010 murder of Harold Wright.
The prosecution has not detailed its decision to drop that case.
Morris was not in court Tuesday, instead listening in on the proceedings.
Earlier this month, Morris received a third death sentence, this one after his conviction in the slaying of Derek Anderson, who was shot to death in May 2010.
Officers Jeffrey Kocab and David Curtis were murdered on June 29, 2010 during an early-morning traffic stop in east Tampa.
The murders set off a massive manhunt for Morris. He was taken into custody four days later when he showed up at a South Tampa law firm with a police informant.
After his arrest, Morris was charged in the murders of Wright, Anderson and another man, Rodney Jones, all killed in the days leading up to the officers' killings.
