The Citrus County Commission had several items on its agenda Tuesday, including its contract with Corrections Corp. of America.
CCA has operated Citrus County's detention facility since 1995, and its 10-year contract is up in September. The contract allows for a five-year extension if both parties agree to the terms, according to the Citrus County Chronicle.
The county pays CCA about $70 per day for each county inmate. In the case of inmates from the U.S. Virgin Islands or federal prisoners from the U.S. Marshal’s Office, the federal government pays the county.
