When you step inside Emerald City Comics, you’ll find familiar faces like Ironman, Wonder Woman and Batman inside thousands of comics that line the walls.
- Love is Love commemorates the victims of Pulse
- Comic is meant to illustrate a different kind of superhero
- Proceeds from the 144-page-comic book will go to Equality Florida
But starting Wednesday, you can see the superheroes like never before.
Love is Love is a comic that commemorates the victims of the Pulse Nightclub Shooting. The 144-page comic, published by IDW and DC Comics, replaces the images of terror and hatred of last June’s shooting with illustrations that promote love and diversity.
"It’s not only inclusive, but it’s permanent,” Darryl Blaker, director of marketing for Emerald City Comics, said. “It’s something you can go back to. And it’s not necessarily involved in that moment and not about just one community, it’s kind of everybody."
The comic has a memoriam page and is filled with different comics that show where there’s darkness there can also be light.
"It’s awesome to see publishers come together with creators and artists and writers to kind of have that sense of community that you’re not alone, you’re not by yourself and it’s something that speaks to all of us. That we are all part of this community,” Blaker said.
The proceeds from the comic will go to Equality Florida.
Emerald City Comics will have a raffle Wednesday, Jan. 4 for a chance to win a copy of Love is Love.
