The cause of a fire that destroyed two RVs and heavily damaged another in Gibsonton Wednesday afternoon is under investigation.

- One fishing boat also destroyed
The fire broke out around 12:30 p.m. at the StorSafe Storage facility located at 12704 US Highway 41 S. in Gibsonton.
When firefighters arrived, they reported heavy smoke and flames coming from one of the RVs, under an awning, in the rear of the lot.

The fire quickly grew in size and spread to other vehicles parked in the adjacent parking spots. Additional units were needed to help fight the fire. It took crews about 30 minutes to put the fire out.
In all, two RVs and one fishing boat were a total loss. One RV sustained major damage, one enclosed trailer sustained major damage, and the storage facility's parking awning sustained damage.
The cost of all the damage is unknown at this time. Investigators are working with property management to contact the owners of the damaged property. There were no injuries reported.
